A Fistful of €uros

2019 sees the Wild Hogs, Woody and Grizzly, embark on another marathon tour. After the cold snowy mountains of Norway in the north, they now take on the hot dusty plains in the south, touring the Iberian peninsula. They’ll come together to begin their journey in Portsmouth, sailing to Bilbao, before spending around 30 days trekking through Spain, Portugal and into the Pyrenees of Andorra and France, before returning to Bilbao and Portsmouth. It's an epic journey totalling some 4250 road miles.

Day 1

Left home about 13:20. Had a leisurely morning, finalising packing, checking tyre pressures, cleaning screen, etc. Popped down to fuel up first. 1 mile into the trip, first incident, SPLAT!, some yellow blooded bug on the freshly cleaned screen! Oh well.

Nice dry ride down to Portsmouth, cruising at 70 mph. With a fuel top up just up the road, arrived at the Travelodge about 15:20. Sanch was already here and enjoying a beer in the pub under the hotel.

Checked in and freshened up, we went to find an ATM for Sanch, then headed to the Admiral Drake pub. God, what a dive. A quick pint and it was back to the hotel pub where we met up with Simon and Viv, our Route 66 chums. A few drinks and some grub and plenty of story telling passed the time. Now ready for bed. Hoping to see them both before we head off to the ferry tomorrow. Sailing is 11:45. Time enough for brekkie before we need to ride the 1/2 mile to the docks!
