Just about to embark on my last sleep before the tour begins. It has been raining hard, sometimes torrentially (with thunder), solidly, for about 15 hours. Roads were awash and there's been reports of flooding a few miles up the road. Will be sleeping with everything crossed tonight, hoping that the rain has moved away by the time I come to set off for Portsmouth tomorrow.
Of course, Sanch's tour has already begun, as he made his way from Portlaoise to Rosslare, via ferry across St George's Channel to Pembroke, then along the M4 to his hotel in Magor, midway between Newport and the Severn Bridge. Luckily for him, the bad weather was in the east of the country, so he didn't have to ride through what we've had in Kent.
We'll meet up tomorrow afternoon at the Travelodge in Portsmouth, along with our Route 66 buddies Simon & Viv.
Keep an eye on the blog, as there may be some minor updates as the day progresses.
